A Report From the 10th Annual WI-SICP Educational Conference
November 6th and 7th of 2015 marked the 10th annual WI-SICP Educational Conference, held at the Kalahari Water Park and Resort in the Wisconsin Dells. The weekend was kicked off on a Friday evening, with early check-in at Kalahari’s bowling alley. Attendees and vendors enjoyed an all-you-can-eat pizza and pasta buffet, while taking in a night of networking and fun. After late registration Saturday morning, a deluxe breakfast buffet was served to get everyone ready for a day of informative lectures. Outgoing president John Gaffney introduced the WI-SICP board members, including incoming members. Incoming WI-SICP president Rachel Meade then introduced the first guest speaker. Attendees were educated on topics including managing heart failure, leadless pacemakers, and fluoroless electrophysiology (EP) procedures.
An overview of the day’s lectures includes:
- Stephanie Keckeisen, RDCS:
- Intracardiac Echo
- Mohammad Eyman Mortada, MD:
- Current and Future Methods of Energy Techniques for Ablation
- Mohammad Eyman Mortada, MD:
- Leadless Pacemakers
- Christina Sauld, APNP:
- PA Pressure Monitoring for Heart Failure Management; CardioMEMS
- Kooroush Saeian, MD, and Scott Schlidt, MD:
- Cardiology and CT Surgery: Working Together for Optimal Patient Outcomes
- Mansour Razminia, MD:
- Fluoroless EP Procedures
During the lunch buffet, and the two breaks in between lectures, attendees had time to visit the vendor room. Twenty-five vendors were present to educate cardiovascular professionals on the latest technologies and tools available. Each attendee was given a “vendor passport”, stamped by each vendor as their tables were visited. At the end of the conference, these passports were entered into a raffle for a chance to win a variety of prizes, including gift cards and overnight stays at the Kalahari Resort.
After lunch, a moment was taken to appreciate the past board members of the WI-SICP, who have all helped along the way to this year’s 10th annual conference.
With the end of the last guest speaker, the conference was closed with remarks from both John Gaffney and Rachel Meade, and the winners of the raffle were announced. Attendees picked up their CEU certificates on the way out, and were sent home with this year’s giveaway, which was a power bank (an external battery).
The WI-SICP would like to thank the vendors for their support, and all of the healthcare professionals for attending.
