Psychedelics Briefs: Cybin, Lenox Hill Hospital, Delic, Ketamine Wellness Clinics

Cybin announced that it has awarded a grant for a psychedelic treatment clinic at Lenox Hill Hospital in New York, with the aim of developing one of the first hospital-based psychedelic medicine clinical sites in the US.

Part of Northwell Health, Lenox Hill Hospital is a 450-bed acute care facility that serves marginalized and underserved communities on the Upper East Side of Manhattan. In a news release announcing the grant, David Roane, MD, Lenox Hill chairman of psychiatry, noted that underserved populations, particularly persons of color, historically have been underrepresented in psychedelic research studies, and “our team is committed to inclusive recruitment of patients.”

Founded by Kimia Pourrezaei, DO, and Gregory Mendoza, LCSW-R, of the hospital’s Outpatient Center for Mental Health, the clinical program will offer treatment for conditions such as severe depression, post-traumatic stress disorder, and obsessive-compulsive disorder with no out-of-pocket costs for individuals otherwise unable to afford service. The clinic also plans to offer psychedelic treatments to frontline healthcare workers affected by COVID-19.

Clinicians will receive training in MDMA-, ketamine-, and tryptamine-assisted psychotherapy, as well as training in EMBARK, a transdiagnostic psychedelic psychotherapy model created by Cybin.
