Aware Recovery Care Appoints COO, Announces Expansion

Aware Recovery Care has announced the appointment of Martha Mather, FACHE, as its new chief operating officer. Mather will work with Aware CEO Brian Holzer, MD, to oversee the company’s operations and program efficacy as it continues increasing admissions and access to in-home addiction treatment services across the US.

Mather comes to Aware Recovery Care having most recently served as CEO of UofL Health – Peace Hospital, a role she held since 2019 after joining the facility as its COO in 2021. Overall, Mather has 20 years in executive roles with behavioral healthcare organizations.

Aware Recovery Care also announced that it will soon begin offering its services in Kentucky, bringing its total number of states served to 10. The company said it expects to launch in an additional 2 states and 5 markets within the states it currently operates in 2023.

Discovery Behavioral Health Appoints Medical Director for Program

Discovery Behavioral Health, which operates a network of mental health, substance use, and eating disorder treatment centers, announced the appointment of Joseph Garbely, DO, DFASAM, FAPA, as medical director of Brookdale Premiere Addiction Recovery, a Discovery program in Scotrun, Pennsylvania.

Dr Garbely is an internist, psychiatrist, and addiction medicine specialist with expertise in addiction, mental health, medication-assisted treatment, treatment innovation, family therapy, co-occurring issues, detox, and prescription drug addiction. He has 24 years of experience in addiction medicine. Previously, he served as the addiction medicine fellowship program director, executive vice president of medical services, and chief medical officer at Caron Treatment Centers.

Dr Garbely is also a clinical associate professor at Penn State College of Medicine, an adjunct clinical associate professor at Drexel University College of Medicine, a member of the medical staff at Reading Hospital, and a distinguished fellow of the American Society of Addiction Medicine (ASAM).

BayMark Acquires Nashville Recovery OBOT

BayMark Health Services announced this week that it has acquired Nashville Recovery, an office-based opioid treatment (OBOT) program near downtown Nashville, Tennessee. Founded in 2017, Nashville Recovery provides its services through in-office and telemedicine visits to individuals with opioid use disorder.

BayMark Health Services operates a network of more than 70 OBOT programs in 19 states, providing treatment with buprenorphine and buprenorphine compounds. Overall, BayMark treats more than 70,000 patients in recovery across 400 treatment facilities in 37 states and 3 Canadian provinces.

Software Firm nView Health Announces Name Change

nView Health, a clinical workflow software firm for behavioral healthcare providers, announced recently that it has changed its name to Proem Behavioral Health. The name, derived from the Latin word “prooemium,” meaning “an introduction,” is meant to reflect “the company’s mission to help providers start patients on the right path to improved mental health by efficiently, accurately, and consistently diagnosing and treating mental illness.”

The newly named Proem has developed a software engine that uses measurements and proprietary algorithms to triage patients. The platform includes clinically validated, metric-based screeners, diagnostic interviews, monitors, scales, and measurements to assess and diagnose mental illness and determine next steps in patient care.

University Offers Integrated Behavioral Health Training for Professionals

Palo Alto University’s Continuing and Professional Studies Division has announced the launch of an advanced training program for mental health professionals focusing on integrated behavioral health. The 10-part series, which is approved for 10 continuing education (CE) credits, covers several topics within integrated behavioral health relevant to psychologists, counselors, social workers, and other behavioral health professionals.

The first program is set to begin January 11, 2023, and is available for purchase until December 30. Live and on-demand courses are available for all included programs, which are presented by Palo Alto University professor Jerrod Brown, PhD, a trainer, researcher, and consultant.
