SAMHSA to grant up to $51.8 million for the National Child Traumatic Stress Initiative

The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) is accepting applications for up to $51.8 million in total funding over the course of four years for National Child Traumatic Stress Initiative – Category II, Treatment and Services Adaptation Center grants. This initiative aims at improving treatment and services for children and adolescents who have experienced traumatic events. The grants also promote greater access to effective trauma-focused treatment and services for children and adolescents and help support the specialized adaptation of effective treatment and service approaches for communities across the nation.
SAMHSA expects that up to 16 grantees will receive funding from $600,000 to $1,000,000 per year over the course of up to 4 years – however the actual award amounts may vary, depending on the availability of funds.

APPLICATION DUE DATE: June 26, 2012. Applications must be received by the due date and on time to be considered for review. Please carefully review Section IV-3 of the application announcement for submission requirements.
