National Council awards reflect changes in healthcare

The National Council for Behavioral Health has launched a call for nominations for its 2016 Awards of Excellence. This year’s awards include 18 categories covering individual and organizational achievements, excellence in behavioral health care management, health IT, addictions treatment, Mental Health First Aid and leadership.

The awards aim to honor advocates and leaders advancing public policies that support improved quality of and access to care, organizations that promote excellence and build healthy communities, and the achievements of individuals with mental illnesses and addictions, their family members and other professionals who care for them.

“The National Council’s Awards of Excellence honor visionary health care leaders who make a difference by improving the lives of our youth and families living with mental illnesses and addictions, as well as the underserved and vulnerable members of our communities,” said Linda Rosenberg, president and CEO of the National Council in a press statement.

A panel of behavioral healthcare leaders will select the honorees, who will receive $10,000 to be donated to their nonprofit of choice and recognition during the National Council Conference in Las Vegas.

Applicants can apply online until Monday, December 7. Winners will be announced in January 2016.
