NAATP conference
The National Association of Addiction Treatment Providers (NAATP) will host its annual Addiction Treatment Leadership Conference on May 17 – 20 at the PGA National Resort & Spa in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida. Treatment providers will come together to discuss important issues, showcase innovative resources and programs, and network. The conference also will offer entertainment and the Annual Golf Outing.
National Council conference
The National Council for Community Behavioral Healthcare will hold its 39th National Mental Health and Addictions Conference in San Antonio, April 6-8. The conference offers attendees updates on the field’s best practices, as well as leadership and success strategies.
The National Council also is offering preconference institutes April 2-5, including “Executive Express: Exploring New Markets, New Opportunities” and “Middle Management Academy.” Executive Express, presented by OPEN MINDS, will provide tools for a changing marketplace, define the competencies an organization needs to succeed, and describe best practice models. The Middle Management Academy will prepare the next generation of leaders for behavioral healthcare’s new realities.
Facility design guide
The National Association of Psychiatric Health Systems (NAPHS) has released the third edition of Design Guide for the Built Environment of Behavioral Health Facilities , written by David Sine, ARM, CSP, CPHRM, and James M. Hunt, AIA, NCARB. The free paper identifies specific products appropriate for use in behavioral healthcare settings. The guide is intended to help those caring for patients within an existing behavioral healthcare program, as well as those designing a new building or renovating space.
Recovery residence for men
Purple, Inc., offers a residential substance abuse treatment program, structured as a four-to-six-month program with three components:
• A safe, supportive, drug- and alcohol-free environment
• Group work lead by certified addiction counselors
• Participation in the recovery community and 12-Step meetings
The program also offers many other services including life skills education, family support groups, and anger management.
