TRANSCRIPT:
Hi. My name is Thad Stappenbeck. I am a physician scientist at Cleveland Clinic. I wanted to say a heartfelt thank you to the Sherman Foundation for their generous award of this prize. This means a lot to me, and it means a lot to the field to have this to have this type of recognition that that's available for people that are that are that are working hard in this area.
I also want to thank all of my amazing colleagues and trainees that have been in my lab over the years for the amazing work that we've been able to do together, to really break through and develop some new understandings of the pathogenesis of this really terrible set of diseases.
And, really, what I see at this stage is a lot of hope. I see that there's a lot of, opportunities, not only for my own work, but many other labs that I see around the world where we're in a position to develop new diagnostics and new therapeutics that are occurring to have a significant impact on Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis. And I expect these diseases to be essentially mitigated within the next decade, which would be a wonderful situation. So, again, thank you very much, and I really appreciate this.
