The Sherman Prize 2023: Corey Siegel, MD

Dr Siegel is named a Sherman Prize winner for 2023.

Corey Siegel, MD, is the section chief of Gastroenterology and Hepatology and the codirector of the Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD) Center at the Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon, New Hampshire.

TRANSCRIPT:

Hi. I'm Corey Siegel from the Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center, and I'm incredibly honored and appreciative to be a recipient of the Sherman Prize this year.

Bruce and Cynthia Sherman have done a great favor to the field of IBD by shedding light on great work that's being done in IBD, the importance of pushing the field forward in IBD and recognizing how many great people there are who are really passionate about and moving the field forward in inflammatory bowel diseases.

Work that I'm really proud of is about how do we deliver the best care to patients. There's so many new medications and great ways that we're learning how to use them. But until we actually start them in our patients, keep them on the appropriate medications, and really help them understand why we treat things earlier and more intensively, then we won't make a lot of progress. Anything that we can all do to make sure that we help our patients understand their diseases, how the treatments can benefit them, and how to keep them on treatment will really push the field forward in other ways.

So, again, thank you to the Shermans, and I'm incredibly appreciative.
