NCAD.10 attracts over 900 professionals in addiction treatment

The 2010 National Conference on Addiction Disorders (www.NCAD10.com) concluded on Saturday, September 11, in Washington, D.C. with over 900 registrants from five different countries. Attendees enjoyed a pre-conference workshop presented by Dr. Carlo C. DiClemente, four keynote presentations, over 60 educational sessions, numerous networking opportunities and a riveting performance by pianist John McAndrew.

NCAD.10 covered the most pressing issues facing the addiction treatment industry, including: changes in behavioral healthcare, blending research and practice, co-occurring disorders, adolescent addiction, chemical abuse, dependence recovery, burnout prevention, 12-Step recovery, and family recovery. The conference’s educational sessions allowed attendees to delve deep into the topics most relevant to their particular focus and emerge from this four-day experience with a renewed sense of inspiration.

In addition, during the course of NCAD.10, attendees benefited from the Exhibit Hall with 100 exhibitors and networked with colleagues from around the world. The diversity of the attendees, speakers, and exhibitors enabled the emergence of new ideas and innovations in the field. Among the comments:

• “This has been an experience of a lifetime. My ideas of what my personal beliefs were have changed. This experience has broadened my knowledge, ideas, and education…” stated one.
• “The NCAD conference brings together experts from several national organizations in the addiction and prevention fields once every year,” said another. “This is the perfect example to learn cutting edge research and technique, along with the best networking opportunity that exists in the addiction field today. If you work in the addiction field at any level, this conference is essential!”

NCAD.10 was produced by Vendome Group, publisher of Addiction Professional and Behavioral Healthcare magazines and NAADAC – the Association for Addiction Professionals, in conjunction with NAATP (the National Association of Addiction Treatment Providers), INCASE (the International Coalition for Addiction Studies Education), and NALGAP (the National Association of Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender Addiction Professionals and Their Allies). Following the success of this year’s inaugural event, NCAD.11 is scheduled from September 17–21, 2011, at the Town & Country Hotel in San Diego, C.A.
