Embolization: Dr. Gloria Salazar Named New Section Editor of Vascular Disease Management
October 26, 2021—Gloria Salazar, MD, FSIR, has been named section editor for the Embolization Section of Vascular Disease Management. Dr. Salazar is a Clinical Associate Professor of Radiology and Chief of Vascular Interventional Radiology at University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
Dr. Salazar is a specialist in women’s and venous interventional procedures, and her clinical interests include uterine fibroid embolization, varicose veins, pelvic venous disorders, venous access, and IVC filter placement and retrieval. She is currently the Chair of the Society of Interventional Radiology’s Women’s Health Service Line. “In my role as Embolization Section Editor, I would like to highlight the value of embolics in our clinical practice, as well as provide guidance and awareness of current/future applications,” Dr. Salazar says. “As such, our main goals will include evaluating the existing evidence for embolic agents’ utilization by lesion type and vessel territory; providing guidance for embolotherapy in complex disease management; and discussing the role of new embolic agents and their future applications.”
