Clinical Editor's Corner

Ushering in a New Vascular Therapy Era

January 2014
2152-4343

Dr Craig Walker Vascular disease is more prevalent than ever throughout the world: life expectancy has increased, there is a worldwide epidemic of diabetes, and smoking has increased in many parts of the world. Medical economists cite that vascular disease has surpassed the cost of coronary artery disease. Advanced vascular disease is associated with substantial morbidity and high mortality. Great strides are being made in diagnosing and treating vascular disease. More than ever before it is important to disseminate information about vascular disease and evolving therapies to those clinicians providing care to patients.

Vascular Disease Management is a well established international peer-reviewed journal currently in its 11th volume addressing subjects of interest in the diagnosis and management of vascular disorders. I am pleased to serve as the new clinical editor of Vascular Disease Management. A web-based peer-reviewed journal has capabilities that purely print journals cannot match. The ability to include video, animation, and voice will further enhance technical communication and educational opportunity, simulating live case experience. And because there is no subscription fee the journal is available to any clinician with internet access and is available as an app to those using a tablet device. This journal encourages submissions from any of the many practitioners who diagnose and treat vascular disease throughout the world.

Each month the journal will address focused topics in the management of vascular disorders as well as articles of interest across the entire vascular disease spectrum. We invite you to read and submit your feedback and suggestions.
