HMP Acquires Provascular GmbH; Enters into Strategic Alliance to Organize the Leipzig Interventional Course (LINC)

Agreement positions company as the leading global provider of cardiovascular events and education and sets stage to further expand the LINC brand around the world

LINC leadership Dierk Scheinert, MD and Andrej Schmidt, MD will continue to guide strategic vision for LINC brand

Malvern, PA (October 10, 2019) – HMP, publisher of Vascular Disease Management and a leading provider of healthcare events and education, today announced its acquisition of Provascular GmbH, a German-based company producing cardiovascular education and events. Full terms of the agreement were not disclosed.

The agreement with Provascular includes a strategic alliance with the company’s event management group, CongO GmbH, to produce the Leipzig Interventional Course (LINC), a premier global cardiovascular conference held annually in Leipzig, Germany.

Created in 2005, LINC is a four-day interdisciplinary meeting designed to foster collaboration among colleagues and promote the understanding and development of endovascular therapies that can be incorporated into daily clinical practice. The core format of the LINC course is live, case-based education combined with discussion forum arenas where controversial topics and challenging cases are debated. Drawing attendees and leading experts from around the world, LINC provides information on the latest techniques and technologies for the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of vascular disease—nearly 5,000 attendees from 82 countries participated in the 2019 meeting. The organization also produces an Asia-Pacific meeting and has agreements in place to deliver LINC education in other parts of the world.

The Provascular leadership team of Dierk Scheinert, MD and Andrej Schmidt, MD will continue to serve in their current capacity, guiding the strategic vision for LINC, with CongO continuing to manage production of the meeting.

“We are enthusiastic about this agreement and the incredible opportunity it represents,” said Jeff Hennessy, Chairman and CEO, HMP. “Drs. Scheinert and Schmidt have built an incredible brand in LINC, a testament to their vision, leadership, and solid execution. We look forward to working with them to further expand the LINC brand around the world, identifying ways to unlock new value and building upon the premier education for which LINC is known.”

HMP’s broad capabilities in event leadership and its deep reach in the cardiovascular market will further fuel the tremendous success we’ve achieved with LINC,” said Dierk Scheinert, founder and course director, LINC. “We look forward to working with HMP and continuing to expand on the success of the LINC concept since its inception—to establish a practical multidisciplinary platform for vascular specialists with an interactive and collaborative approach.”

The acquisition establishes HMP as the dominant provider of global cardiovascular events and education. In 2016, HMP became the management partner of the International Symposium on Endovascular Therapy (ISET), an educational meeting for physicians and allied health professionals who treat patients with peripheral, cardiac and neurovascular disease, and the Symposium on Clinical Interventional Oncology (CIO), a three-day program designed for interventional radiologists and other specialists that highlights innovative and viable treatments in interventional oncology. In 2015, the company acquired the Amputation Prevention Symposium (AMP), the only meeting dedicated to education on the treatment and prevention of critical limb ischemia (CLI). Now in its tenth year, AMP attracts more than 800 participants annually to Chicago, and most recently, HMP concluded the launch of AMP Europe—connecting clinicians with the foremost CLI experts and the latest advances in revascularization—October 2-4 in Lugano, Switzerland. The company also produces cardiovascular news and clinical content distributed across its five print and digital brands.

With this partnership, HMP will produce more than 300 global, regional and local events in 2020 across ten therapeutic areas.
