Cordis Names Roberto Patarca as Chief Medical Officer
DUBLIN, Ohio, April 30, 2020 — Cordis, a Cardinal Health company, appoints Roberto Patarca, M.D., Ph.D. as Chief Medical Officer, effective April 13, 2020. Dr. Patarca brings more than 15 years of industry experience in global medical affairs and clinical research. His primary focus has been in clinical studies, education, product safety, quality assurance, field work and strategic planning. He has been a clinician and clinical trialist, basic scientist and bio analyst (molecular to cellular diagnostics), and a well published editor of biomedical journals.

As Cordis Chief Medical Officer, Dr. Patarca will lead Cordis Clinical, Medical, Clinical Education and Training and customer Key Opinion Leader engagement functions.

About Roberto Patarca, M.D.
Dr. Patarca was the Medical Strategy Lead and Medical Affairs Director, Antibacterials and Antifungals for Hospital Systems at Merck & Co. Inc. In addition, Dr. Patarca has served as a member of advisory committees to two U.S. Secretaries of Department of Health and Human Services and worked in academia at University of Miami School of Medicine/Jackson Memorial Hospital and Harvard Medical School.
Roberto has deep therapeutic experience in numerous areas, including interventional cardiology, electrophysiology, immunology, infectious diseases, and oncology. As a result, he has longstanding scientific & educational partnerships globally with cardiovascular opinion leaders.
Roberto received his Master of Science in Biology from Central University of Venezuela, Ph.D. in Experimental Pathology from Harvard University, and M.D. from University of Miami School of Medicine.
