The Evolution of Psychotherapy Remembers Dr Aaron T Beck

Yesterday morning, The Evolution of Psychotherapy honored Aaron T. Beck, MD, who passed away this November and turned 100 years old in July. Dr Beck was popularly known as the "father of cognitive-behavioral therapy."

“My father was an amazing person who dedicated his life to helping others,” said Judith Beck, PhD president and co-founder of Beck Institute for Cognitive Behavior Therapy. “When he and I started Beck Institute over 25 years ago, we continued my father’s vision of providing excellent CBT [cognitive behavioral therapy] training to health and mental health professionals around the world. As a result, the lives of countless individuals and their families worldwide have improved. He has inspired students, clinicians, and researchers for several generations with his passion and his groundbreaking work.”

Dr Aaron Beck, spoke at the conference just last year alongside his daughter who began her virtual The Evolution of Psychotherapy 2021 session, "CBT for personality disorders" with this video as a tribute to his extraordinary life.
