Medication Management, Care Enhancements Under the Spotlight at the 20th Annual NEI Fall Congress
The 20th annual NEI Fall Congress kicked off Wednesday, November 6, in Colorado Springs and provides a space—both in person and online—where leading minds in psychiatry share current and emerging treatment strategies with the next generation of mental health care professionals.
This year, the organizers of the 5-day event aim to equip attendees with tools to enhance patient care through a “challenging curriculum that transcends practice settings, professional categories, and disciplines.” The NEI Fall Congress offers 28+ CME/CE credits to the over 2500 clinicians in attendance through engaging sessions led by 21 leading faculty members.
Conference sessions will encompass a comprehensive review of medication side effects, drug interactions, and management. “Leaning into learner-centered educational principles that help clinicians make informed decisions, our expert faculty make complex concepts accessible through the use of animation and a visual language that our field has come to know and love,” said Stephen M. Stahl, MD, PhD, DSc (Hon.), Chairman Emeritus of NEI Fall Congress, and founder of NEI (Neuroscience Education Institute).
The 2024 NEI Fall Congress commenced with the Child & Adolescent Psychiatry Academy, chaired by Jeffery R. Strawn, MD, UC Department of Pediatrics, and featured leading experts who explored strategies in making an accurate, differential mental illness diagnosis in pediatric patients. During the academy, Dr Strawn shared expert tips for making an accurate diagnosis and provided practical guidance for when to use antidepressants in pediatric patients. The Academy also explored managing attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) and managing social anxiety in pediatric patients.

Day 2 promises a Healthy Aging Seminar where attendees will “explore what it takes to age gracefully.” Faculty will guide attendees through genetic and lifestyle factors that impact the aging brain, as well as the latest advances in detecting and treating Alzheimer disease.
The keynote address on Thursday, featuring Dr. Stahl, will explore both the past and the future of mental illness treatment. He will discuss the accurate and inaccurate assumptions that have shaped care for mental health over the years and share the latest advances in our understanding of neuropathology.
