Statin Recall Grows

Dr Reddy's Laboratories Inc is recalling two additional lots of atorvastatin calcium tablets because of impurities, according to the June 23, 2021, US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) Enforcement Report. A similar recall from the firm appeared in the June 2, 2021, FDA Enforcement Report.

The latest recall is for atorvastatin calcium tablets, 10 mg, 500-count bottles (NDC 55111-121-05), from lots C905064 and C905065 (Exp. 7/21). The tablets were manufactured by Dr. Reddy's Laboratories Limited, Bachupally, India, and distributed throughout the United States.

Dr. Reddy's Laboratories initiated the voluntary recall June 4, 2021. The FDA designated the recall Class III on June 11, 2021. Under the recall classification, use of the affected tablets is not likely to cause harm.

Atorvastatin is a prescription statin used to treat high cholesterol and triglyceride levels.
