Additional First Aid Antiseptics Recalled

TSM Brands is recalling more than 3 million bottles of 70% isopropyl alcohol solution because the affected product contains undeclared ethyl alcohol, according to the September 7, 2022, US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) Enforcement Report. The firm announced a recall of more than 1 million bottles of the first aid antiseptic in February 2022 for the same reason.

The current recall affects the following products, which were distributed in Virginia by TSM Brands, Manalapan, NJ:

• Luxury 70% isopropyl alcohol first aid antiseptic with wintergreen, 12 fluid ounces, 355-mL bottle (UPC 868275965765), from lots 015, 016, 017, 018, 018, 019, 020, 021, 022, 023, 024, 025, 026, 027, 028, 029, 030, 031, 032, 033, 034, 035, 036, 037, and 038; and
• Luxury 70% isopropyl alcohol, 16 fluid ounces, 473-mL bottle (UPC 868275965734), from lots 235, 236, 237, 238, 239, 240, 241, 242, 243, 244, 245, 246, 247, 248, 249, 250, 251, 252, 253, 254, 255, 256, 257, 258, 259, 260, 261, 262, 263, 264, 265, 266, 267, 268, 269, 270, 271, 272, 273, 274, 275, 276, 277, 278, 279, 280, 281, 282, 283, 284, 285, 286, 287, 288, 289, 290, 291, 292, 293, 294, 295, 296, 297, 298, 299, 300, 301, 302, 303, 304, 305, 306, 307, 308, 309, 310, 311, 312, 313, 314, 315, 316, 317, 318, 319, 320, 321, 322, 323, 324, 325, 326, 327, 328, 329, 330, 331, 332, 333, 334, 335, 336, 337, and 338.

TSM Brands voluntarily initiated the recall July 19, 2022, and the FDA designated it Class II on August 31, 2022. Products affected by Class II recalls may cause temporary or medically reversible adverse health consequences if used. While remote, a possibility of serious harm also exists.

The first aid antiseptics are used to help prevent infection of minor cuts, scrapes, and burns.
