When to Give Statins to Patients With Diabetes

Even though statins can significantly reduce the risk of heart attack and stroke in patients with diabetes, many older patients aren’t prescribed the potentially life-saving medications, according to research that assessed statin use in a real-world population of approximately 215,000 patients aged 40 to 75 years who were treated at more than 200 cardiology practices in the US.
