The SICP’s New England Symposium and Annual Meeting

The SICP is gearing up for the New England Symposium, taking place July 28–30 in Boston, Massachusetts. We’re looking forward to having many invasive cardiovascular professionals together to share a few days of education and camaraderie. This year’s conference will cover the basics of the Invasive Cardiovascular Laboratory (ICL) educational needs for the RCIS registry exam as well as focus on the latest advances in invasive cardiology and transradial approach procedures. We’re excited to highlight educational and networking opportunities as breakout sessions to ICL Managers as well as Invasive Cardiovascular Educators. The Educators Round Table is a session for educators by educators. This session will feature Q&A sessions with the SICP JRC-CVT representative and a representative from CCI. The session will also include other discussion topics to be determined. The Managers Retreat session will focus on leadership issues in the cath lab, such as staff recruitment, retention and patient satisfaction. As always, our meeting will feature an ever-important Legislative Update, which will focus on legislative issues facing the invasive cardiovascular professional. Attendees will be updated regarding RCIS legislation and other legislative activities that can affect the ICL professional. Discussion will follow regarding what you can do in your area and how to motivate other professionals to be aware and concerned regarding legislative activity. An SICP meeting would not be complete without SICP’s Signature RCIS Review Course, which will review information following the CCI invasive registry exam matrix. It will help identify areas of concentration for study or serve as review for the exam. The RCIS Review Course at SICP’s New England Symposium will feature topics such as coronary artery anatomy and angiography, cardiovascular anatomy and physiology, pathophysiology, hemodynamics and calculations, cath equipment and diagnostic procedures, interventions, pharmacology and radiology and radiation safety.
