Spotlight on the EP Physician

Jodie Miller

May 2004

Dear readers,

It's the most wonderful time of the year, in the field of electrophysiology, that is: the annual NASPE-Heart Rhythm Society meeting is here! The first article featured in this issue is a special conversation with Peggy Strieper, DO. We spoke with her last month and are excited to bring you the interview! The physicians at Children's Healthcare of Atlanta have recently started performing cryotherapy on pediatric patients and have had great success with it so far. Cryotherapy has become as a safe alternative to radiofrequency ablation, and we are happy to include more information on it in the hope that it may be an available option for your patients as well. In this issue, we are also including an article on EP's tricks of the trade. Authors Todd J. Cohen, MD and Jose M. Poulose, MD, provide their expertise on dealing with difficult access during a permanent pacemaker implant. They recommend the use of a certain wire (you'll have to read the article to find out) in order to easily gain access. If you have any advice that you would like to share, please email us. Lastly, we are publishing a special supplement this month entitled "Current Ablation Products & Techniques in the EP Lab." I hope that some of the products and techniques mentioned in it will help benefit those in your lab. We'll see you at the NASPE-Heart Rhythm Society meeting!

Thanks for reading!
