New Technology, Findings, Uses

Jodie Miller, Managing Editor

March 2004

Dear readers, Looking to find out more about the ARVD Study, the Stereotaxis Laboratory System, or about integrating AEDs into the community? We are so happy to bring you all of this information (and more) in our March issue, just in time for the American College of Cardiology meeting. In this issue, we also take a look at short QT syndrome (SQTS) in our second installment of the Sudden Death monthly section. Dr. Kathryn Glatter, who previously wrote on long QT syndrome, notes the characteristics of SQTS and writes that although the syndrome is rare, it may be a cause of SIDS. In addition, we include another article from our Cryotherapy section. Dr. Luis Constantin has described his experiences using CryoCath s Freezor ® Cryoablation system at the Heart Hospital of New Mexico. In the article, he outlines its uses, benefits, as well as its comparisons to radiofrequency ablation. Finally, it has been over two years since the introduction of EP Lab Digest, so we have put together a special article that looks back on the EP labs that have shared their information with us. Combing through past Spotlight Interviews, we have compiled data on various organizational aspects such as the number of procedures performed, types of procedures, and mix of credentials at each lab. I hope you ll enjoy this article. I hope this month s meeting brings many new discoveries and innovations to light. I look forward to hearing your thoughts on the meeting. Thanks for reading!
