Girl, 4, Three Others Hurt in Minn. Campfire Mishap
June 30--MONEY CREEK TOWNSHIP, Minn. -- A 4-year-old girl was flown to a St. Paul hospital and three others were injured late Friday after an adult poured an accelerant on a smoldering fire at a campground in Houston County, officials said.
The accelerant container caught fire, causing what was reported as an explosion about 9:20 p.m. at Money Creek Haven Campground north of Houston, according to the Houston County Sheriff's Department.
The sheriff's department released no names, but said the 4-year-old was taken by Mayo One helicopter to Regions Hospital in St. Paul and a juvenile male flown by MedLink Air to Gundersen Lutheran Medical Center in La Crosse. Another two juveniles were transported by ambulance to the same hospital.
The sheriff's department had no information on the type or severity of the injuries. An adult at the campground refused transport.
