BRIEF: Woman sunbather seriously injured by truck running her over at James Madison Park

May 23--A 28-year-old woman sunbathing at James Madison Park was seriously injured around noon Wednesday when a municipal truck drove over her.

Details of the incident are sketchy, but Madison Fire Department spokeswoman Bernadette Galvez told Madison.com the injured woman was a Level 1 trauma patient, the most serious level. She was taken to UW Hospital by fire department ambulance.

Madison Police Department spokesman Joel DeSpain said the truck was delivering bark and was operating on a grassy area of the park at 314 E. Gorham St. on the south shore of Lake Mendota.

The incident remains under investigation.
