Fla. ER Doctor Accused of Keeping Child Porn on Computer
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. --
An emergency room physician was arrested Thursday after his girlfriend told police she found child pornography on his computer.
Police arrested Robert Williams, 43, at his Queens Harbour home after detectives said they found videos of naked children on his computer, some performing sex acts. The arrest report said investigators also found a dozens of videotapes and hundreds of CDs and DVDs they described as pornographic from various areas of the home.
Investigators believe the girls depicted in the videos were as young as 8 years old.
While Williams lives in Jacksonville and completed his residency at the University of Florida last summer, a spokesman for Shands-Jacksonville Medical Center said he completed that program in June 2009 and has not been at the hospital since.
"He as never been employed by Shands hospital," spokesman Dan Leveton said, who added that a resident is never alone with patients.
At his first appearance on the charges Friday morning, Williams told the judge that he travels extensively. The judge set his bond at $75,000 and order that he wear an ankle monitor and have no contact with children if he is released.
Possession of child pornography is a third-degree felony punishable by up to five years in prison.
