Updates to Cardiovascular Credentialing International’s Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist (RCIS) Examination

Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI)'s mission includes providing recognized high quality, competency-based examinations. Part of this mission is to ensure that CCI credentials remain relevant and current, and that they accurately reflect the jobs that our credential holders perform.

One way CCI ensures we are carrying out our mission is to perform a Job Task Analysis (JTA) every 4 to 5 years for all credentialing programs. The goal of the JTA for the CCI Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist (RCIS) was to gather input from the profession and gain insight into everything a RCIS does on the job. It also includes collecting all the knowledge an RCIS is required to know.

The JTA is a multi-process approach that involves input from invasive cardiovascular technology subject-matter experts, an analysis of emerging trends in the profession, and a large-scale survey of practicing invasive cardiovascular technologists and educators from CVT Programs.

The results of this multi-process approach were used by CCI to update the RCIS examination blueprint (outline) – see “Examination Matrix”, “Task List”, and “Knowledge List”.

These updates are effective for examinations administered on or after July 1, 2019. For more information, visit www.cci-online.org/RCIS or contact CCI at communications@cci-online.org
