Bullying in Cardiology: A Goal to Develop an Anti-Bullying Culture in the Art of Healing
Bullying, harassment, abuse, mistreatment, and inappropriate behavior are commonly experienced by cardiology trainees and disproportionately affect women and those who attended non-U.S. medical schools. This inappropriate behavior may represent a longstanding culture of harassment within cardiology divisions in the U.S.
Improving the culture and professional behaviors in the field of cardiology is important for better quality training and to minimize negative effects on trainees, and most importantly, for patient care. Inappropriate behavior must be challenged and should not be allowed in the noble field of healthcare.
