Cath Lab & Beyond

Registered nurses, cardiovascular technologists, and radiological technologists from all over California attended the most recent Cath Lab and Beyond program, a 4-day training program offered in Sacramento, California. This program is targeted toward staff who are new to the cath lab setting. It is approved for 32 CEUs and is presented twice each year. The program has been offered for more than 25 years and includes instruction by multiple content experts.

Topics reviewed include cardiovascular anatomy, including heart dissection; physiology and hemodynamics; and current diagnostic and interventional coronary, peripheral, and structural heart procedures. Hands-on experience with scrubbing, gowning, gloving, and draping and other cath lab skills are practiced in the simulation lab. Area vendors participate to allow hand-on experience with various devices commonly used in our setting.
