Eric A. Secemsky, M.D., is certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine with subspecialty certification in cardiovascular disease and interventional cardiology. His clinical expertise is in interventional cardiology, vascular medicine, and vascular intervention. In addition to his clinical work, he also leads the vascular research program at the Smith Center for Outcomes Research in Cardiology at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center. Dr. Secemsky earned his medical degree at Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine and completed an internal medicine residency at the University of California, San Francisco Medical Center. He completed cardiovascular medicine, interventional cardiology, and vascular medicine and intervention fellowships at Massachusetts General Hospital, affiliated with Harvard Medical School, Boston, MA. He also earned a master’s degree in public health from Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health and completed a 2-year post-doctorate research fellowship at Harvard Medical School. Dr. Secemsky's research focuses on the comparative effectiveness of coronary and vascular therapies, with an emphasis on the use of novel statistical methods. He also examines outcomes related to cardiovascular disorders and the use of risk prediction models to guide treatment decisions. He has authored more than 60 peer-reviewed publications and has lectured nationally and internationally on his research.
 

A fellow of the American College of Cardiology, the Society for Vascular Medicine, and the Society for Cardiovascular Angiography and Interventions, Dr. Secemsky is also on the steering committee of the National Cardiovascular Data Registry (NCDR) Peripheral Vascular Intervention Registry. In addition, he serves as an Assistant Editor for Circulation: Cardiovascular Interventions.
