Professional, Educate Thyself

March 2003
I’m pleased to bring you our first CME/CEU-offering. Two CEUs or 1 CME can be yours FREE! Many thanks to Eli Lilly & Company and Cordis Corporation for supporting these educational opportunities via an unrestricted educational grant. The two articles, Advances in Adjunctive Pharmacotherapy for Patients Undergoing PCI and Sirolimus-Eluting Stents, both offer a chance to become more knowledgeable on key clinical issues in the cath lab today. The CME/CEU piece by Dr. Jeffrey Popma (Sirolimus-Eluting Stents) is the first in a series of CME/CEU pieces to be published over ONE FULL YEAR, supported by an unrestricted educational grant from Cordis Corporation. That’s right, 12 CEUs (or 12 CMEs) can be yours over the next year! Dare I say…cath lab professionals may one day rule the world?! It would certainly be an improvement over the current state of affairs. This month, our Email Discussion Group digs into a nice, meaty topic: preparations for drug-eluting stents. One thing seems clear preparation may be the only way to face the challenges from a position of power. From legal to financial to clinical, implications of the choices cath labs will have to make are coming into sharper focus. Ever had a product idea and jumped to visions of yourself on a yacht with stock options pending and CEO after your name? Our article, The Key to Successfully Starting a Medical Technology Company, admittedly makes the vision I described a little harder to see (a dose of reality often does), but it’s a practical look at taking a product idea, perhaps scribbled on napkin at lunch, to fruition. Knowledge is the one thing no one can ever take from you. Rebecca Yospyn, Managing Editor cathlabdigest@aol.com
