President`s Message

December 2005
We recently completed a successful conference in South Padre Island, Texas, and the ever-busy Gulf Coast SICP Chapter just had their end-of-year bowling tournament. Currently, the SICP is working on its conference schedule for 2006, and we hope that SICP will be very visible to all our members next year. The end of the year always brings dues renewals. SICP headquarters has mailed dues renewals to all members in late November. Please remember your membership is now based on a calendar year. You have until January 31, 2006 to renew your membership for 2006. Maintaining a continuous SICP membership is important when being considered for Fellowship status of the SICP, so please renew on time. If you have questions regarding the status of your membership or about the dues renewal process, please contact SICP’s membership coordinator Candace Callahan, at membership@sicp.com. SICP’s Review Course service continues to grow. We scheduled five RCIS Review courses and one Educational Review Course for 2005 and have one scheduled for 2006. We are now scheduling for all of 2006, so if your facility is interested in hosting a review course, please contact Nicole Shore at director@sicp.com for a review course brochure. Each course will be specifically tailored to your hospital’s or group’s needs, to prepare attendees for the Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist (RCIS) exam offered by Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI). This has been a great asset for many professionals already, and we encourage anyone interested in a review course to please contact us. SICP also hopes to offer a Review Course in May 2006, open to all SICP members. You may have already received an email from SICP headquarters calling for nominations for our upcoming elections. The elections will be held the first quarter of 2006, but we need to know who you would like on the SICP Board of Directors. If you or any other SICP member you know would be a perfect fit for the SICP board, please submit your nomination so we can include it in the process. Have you, as an SICP Fellow, fulfilled your 2005-2006 duties? It has been such a busy year now is the time to jump in and keep the fires burning. If you have not talked with Nicole Shore at SICP headquarters in the past six months, please contact her at director@sicp.com, and provide her with your contact information. We have more than enough projects for all Fellow SICP members. I urge you to get involved today. I would like to take a moment to send out a couple of heartfelt thanks to Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP), CCI and the Joint Review Committee on Education in Cardiovascular Technology (JRC-CVT). These are the three organizations that make the SICP a reality. These organizations are responsible for legislation, registration and education, and we owe them all many thanks for their undying support to our society. They give our cardiovascular profession the greatness that it deserves. If you come across any of the folks associated with these organizations, please join the SICP in saying thank you. Please feel free to contact any of the SICP board members in the future, including myself, for any question you may have. We are here because of you and for you, so please keep in touch with us, so we can keep in touch with you. Enjoy the holiday season, enjoy your family, and be safe!
