The SICP Board of Directors is also pleased to announce a new review course program being implemented for 2005. The brochure holds basic information on what is required and how SICP conducts its courses. All fees are flexible, depending on the curriculum and projected attendance. The first course is scheduled for May 2005 at the University of Virginia and a second was recently scheduled for July 2005 in North Carolina. Chapter News If you are interested in starting a chapter in your area, please contact board member Lynne Jones (ljcathnurs@houston.rr.com) or the SICP for information. Central Texas Chapter -The Central Texas Chapter continues to grow, and has hosted an SICP "Membership Drive." Fifteen cath lab professionals attended, and four institutions in the Central Texas area were represented. Lynne Jones and Dave Droll attended the event and spoke to members and prospective members alike on the advantages of membership and local chapter involvement. Dr. Thomas Carlson presented, "Treatment of the Acute MI in the Cath Lab," and four case studies were reviewed. The mood was informal and the power of networking was practiced after the lecture was complete. One free membership was given away from the Gulf Coast Chapter, along with a Dave and Buster’s Power Card. The event was free to all who attended. Unfortunately, many more had reserved a spot to come, but a storm hit the Austin area as the event started. Thanks to all who braved the bad weather! Plans are underway for the next Central Texas chapter meeting. Location, date, time, and presenter are TBA! More information will be available soon. The Central Texas Chapter would like to thank the Gulf Coast Chapter for their gracious donations and hard work dedicated to establishing another chapter in Texas.
