Letter from the Editor
June is the month of ASOCC.
June 2003
Not only is ASOCC directed at the education of the cardiac cath professional, but it is also a celebration of the cardiac cath professional community. I look forward to seeing you there.
CLD is pleased to offer the next article in our CME/CEU series. This month, we delve further into the potential applications of drug-eluting stents (DES) with Sirolimus-Eluting Stent for Complex Lesions: Treatment of Saphenous Vein Graft Disease, by Marco Costa and Theodore Bass.
In a dispatch from the European front, we hear from CLD editorial board member Sandy Watson, who shares his experience with DES at the Swiss Cardiovascular Center Bern. Email Discussion Group member Scott Fylling also offers his lab’s inclusion and exclusion criteria for DES.
Our cath lab spotlight this month is from Queensland, Australia. CLD is always pleased to publish international spotlights. It’s a nice reminder that the cath lab professional community extends far beyond the borders of the United States, and professionals abroad can often use our support and recognition. International professionals may be working with devices or procedures that have yet to be launched in the U.S., in isolated, fledgling labs created out of an old shoe factory (true story), in awe-inspiring cath lab technological wonderlands, and(or) in unique political and economic climates that affect the delivery of cardiac care. (In this issue, CLD has also collected a few tidbits from the international cardiology news scene for our clinical news section.)
