OREGON: The Oregon Chapter of the SICP held its second meeting on November 17, 2005. A total of 26 cardiovascular professionals attended the event. Two facilities (Oregon Heart and Vascular Institute, and Oregon Cardiology Diagnostic Center) in Eugene, OR were represented. The evening saw three presentations for a total of 2 Category A CEUs. The first, titled The Amazing Adventures of the Radialist, was presented by Stephen Cook, MD, of Oregon Cardiology. James Lewis, RCIS, Oregon Heart and Vascular Institute, presented part two of Coronary and Ventricular Anatomy and Pathophysiology. Andrew Gevero, RCIS, Cordis Corporation Medical Affairs presented the final presentation, entitled Saphenous Vein Grafts: An Overview.
In January, we will begin our regularly scheduled meetings, held every other month on the third Thursday. Registration and dinner begins at 6:45 pm. January’s education will include Patient Assessment and 12-Lead EKG Identification of MI.

NORTH CAROLINA: Many thanks to Tony Groce of Abbott Vascular for his presentation on Vascular Access Site Management at the last meeting on November 9th. Congratulations to Tim Tierney, RT(R), Forsyth Medical Center, for winning the drawing for a one-year membership to the SICP. Plans are underway for our next meeting.

NORTHWEST FLORIDA (EMERALD COAST CHAPTER: Since the initial organization meeting, the chapter’s membership has grown to approximately 86 professionals in Northwest Florida. The Emerald Coast Chapter had its first meeting in May and utilized a review course as a membership drive for 2005. We have monthly meetings with continuing education opportunities. Nonmembers are also welcome. Chapter members are encouraged to distribute SICP materials in their workplace.

INDIANA: The Indiana Chapter met at MO’s on December 5th for It’s Not Just an Ugly Groin: Vascular access site complications and prevention, presented by Michael Guiry, RPA, Columbia University Medical Center, New York.
