Highlights of the 5th Thai Cardiovascular Invasive Society, Society of Invasive Cardiovascular Professionals (TCIS/SICP) Joint
September 2003
Speakers from around the world continue to make this an outstanding course. The long-standing relationship between both TCIS and SICP continues to bring the best of both societies together in shaping the design and topics for the course. Topics presented were of interest to all staff working in the cardiac catheterization laboratory in the United States and Thailand.
1. From the United States, Mr. Charles Barbiere and Mr. Chris Nelson presented topics during the course and continued to assist each society in furthering its goals.
2. Although they could not attend, Ms. Tracy Simpson, RCIS, President of the SICP, and Ms. Julia Hillier, RCIS, were recognized by plaques honoring their sustained efforts in furthering the goals of the invasive cardiovascular profession. Upon his return to the United States, Mr. Nelson met with both recipients and delivered their plaques.
3. Presenting from Asia were Drs. Punnee Sathienchoak, Gumpanart Veerakul, L. Chaothawee, K. Hengrussame, and K. Sartravaha.
4. Presenting from Germany was Mr. J. Siebarth.
Although the course title indicates it is a registry review course, the seminar now also includes a scientific session. During this session, TCIS members presented original oral abstracts on a wide variety of topics. Above is a representative abstract, and listed below are the titles of the other abstracts that were presented.
Other presentations included:

I, like the rest of the members of the SICP, applaud the continued outstanding efforts that TCIS makes in Thailand to raise the level of professionalism in the invasive cardiovascular field. TCIS members set an example for all of us. Their determined efforts to obtain credentialing and licensure in their country are outstanding examples of professionalism.
