The March article, Facilitated Planning of Intracoronary Stenting Using a 3-D Vessel Reconstruction Program by Neil Kleiman, MD, Director of Cardiac Catheterization Laboratories, The Methodist DeBakey Heart Center, The Methodist Hospital, Houston, Texas was missing the author disclosure. Dr. Kleiman discloses he has received a research grant from Siemens.
The news headline, Datascope Interventional Announces the Launch of Safeguard 12 cm and the X-Site® Suture-mediated Vascular Closure Device: Safeguard is now available in two sizes, 12 cm and 24 cm incorrectly spelled Safeguard's TM mark.
The February article Primary angioplasty without on-site surgical back-up: the first experience with mobile catheterization facility by Ramazan Akdemir et al., incorrectly cited the date of the original publication. The correct citation should be: Reprinted with permission from the Journal of Invasive Cardiology Nov 2004; 16(11):645-648.
The March Email Discussion Group contribution from Chris Reoch is corrected, as below. Errors were the fault of Cath Lab Digest.
Surgeons and cardiologists perform peripherals
At Bon Secours St. Mary's Hospital in Richmond, Virginia, there are cardiologists and electrophysiologists, as well as surgeons, who utilize our three cath/peripheral labs and one EP lab. The surgeons perform abdominal aortograms
with run-offs and PTAs if warranted; carotid angiography, with one surgeon training in carotid stenting; fistulograms and PTAs if warranted. Our surgeons' diagnostic procedures often precede their scheduled surgical procedures (i.e., carotid endarterectomy, fem-pops, etc.). The cardiologists are not limited in their abilities either. Presently our cardiologists are performing peripheral interventions (carotid stenting, subclavian stenting, messenteric, ciliac, renal stenting, AAA stenting [presently performed in the OR], and any lower extremity interventions). Our cardiologists consult with the neurologists prior to carotid stenting. The neurologists themselves do not utilize our lab.
