Psychedelics Briefs: Dimensions Health Centres, Numinus Wellness

Dimensions Health Centres Planning a Psychedelic Retreat Campus

Dimensions Health Centres, a portfolio company of Origin Therapeutics Holdings, has announced plans for a psychedelic retreat destination in development. The retreat, known as Dimensions Algonquin Highlands, sits on a 45-acre property 3 hours north of Toronto and includes 17 private cabin suites. The retreat is slated to begin hosting private groups in July and offer a complete suite of programs in 2023.

The retreat will incorporate psychedelic-assisted ceremonies led by Plant Elders and guided by psychedelic therapists. Healing modalities will include whole-plant medicines in accordance with local regulations—cannabis and cacao are permitted in Ontario—and psilocybin will be available for guests who have received approval from Health Canada’s Schedule 56 exemptions and Special Access Programs.

Numinus Wellness Receives Approval to Provide Psychedelic-Assisted Therapy

Numinus Wellness announced that it has received approval from Health Canada to complete psychedelic-assisted therapy using psilocybin to care for patients with treatment-resistant depression. It is Numinus’ first psilocybin-assisted treatment outside of its ongoing clinical trials and is among the first to make use of the regulatory mechanism established through Health Canada’s Special Access Program, which was amended in January to include access to psychedelic compounds on a case-by-case basis.

The psychedelic-assisted therapy will take place at one of Numinus’ Montreal clinics. It will include multiple preparatory and integration therapy sessions, medical consults, and a single psilocybin-dosing session. Practitioners involved have been trained through the company’s proprietary psilocybin-assisted therapy protocol. Numinus is partnering with Psygen Labs, an approved Health Canada supplier, to provide an oral formulation of synthetic psilocybin.
