Tom Valentino, Digital Managing Editor

NextGen Healthcare, a cloud-based healthcare technology firm, on Thursday announced the release of a new behavioral health technology suite that is built upon the company’s electronic health record (EHR) and practice management system.

The platform integrates physical, behavioral health, human services, and oral health, addressing outpatient mental health services, substance use disorders, crisis services, residential treatment, intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD), and primary care.

The new NextGen Behavioral Health Suite’s new features include:

  • Documentation for clients with I/DD, including summary reporting to show outcomes and patient improvement, and electronic visit verification functionality that supports home and community-based services.
  • Program case load summary and integrated service plans, assessments, and updated psychiatric advance directive and customization options
  • Residential administration, shift notes, and discharge summaries
  • Expanded reporting capabilities that address common metrics to improve outcomes and manage reimbursement

In a news release announcing the launch, NextGen Chief Growth and Strategy Officer said the launch of the new suite is indicative of the organization’s efforts to support whole-person health and reduce care disparities by bringing multi-specialty care information together from across community health services to a single platform.
