Tom Valentino, Digital Managing Editor

GateHouse Treatment, a provider of drug and alcohol addiction treatment in Nashua, New Hampshire, and Nashville, Tennessee, has announced Theodore Bender, PhD, as its next CEO.

Dr Bender has 12 years of experience as a clinician and executive in the addiction treatment field, most recently serving as CEO of BeWell Network, where he led initiatives to enhance patient care and expand treatment options. Dr Bender has also served as president of Unity Place (the mental health division of UnityPoint Health) in Peoria, Illinois, and as CEO of Addiction Campuses, where he helped develop treatment programs.

From 2020 to 2021, Dr Bender held a position on the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) board of directors, and he has also worked with the Department of Defense on military suicide prevention initiatives.

Taking on the role of chief executive for GateHouse, Dr Bender will be tasked with expanding access to the company’s services, developing partnerships, and implementing new treatment approaches. In a news release announcing his hire, GateHouse noted Dr Bender’s background in clinical psychology and track record in executive leadership roles among the reasons for his selection.

“GateHouse Treatment is thrilled to have Dr Bender’s expertise, exceptional leadership skills, and genuine compassion at the helm,” Christopher Barnett, CEO of GateHouse parent organization ICBD Holdings, said. “With him leading the way, the company is poised to embark on an exciting new chapter of growth and innovation.”
