Business Briefs: Oceans, Norman Regional to Build BH Hospital in Oklahoma

Tom Valentino, Senior Editor

Oceans Healthcare, a provider of inpatient and outpatient behavioral health services provider that specializes in the treatment of older adults, has announced a partnership with Norman Regional Health System to build a behavioral health hospital in south central Oklahoma.

The new facility, which will be named Behavioral Health Porter Village, will have 48 beds, doubling Norman’s inpatient capacity for behavioral health patients, and include an intensive outpatient program and geriatric unit. The new freestanding building will be constructed on the Norman Regional Hospital campus, replacing the current hospital’s 20-bed behavioral health unit. The new facility is slated to open in 2023.

Autism Cares Partners Acquires Puddingstone Place

Autism Cares Partners (ACP) has increased its presence in Massachusetts with a deal to acquire Puddingstone Place, which provides ABA, speech and occupational therapy at three centers in the eastern part of the state. ACP will also expand the Visual Immersion System, a treatment approach to improving communication and learning for people with autism and other disabilities that was developed in the Autism Language Program at Boston Children’s Hospital.

Howard C. Shane, PhD, who has led development of the Visual Immersion System, will join ACP as a senior advisor. ACP is led by CEO Jim Spink, who will oversee the newly combined organization.
