Business Briefs: MindPath, Vertava, Acadia, Orlando Health, Pear Therapeutics, Voyages, Netsmart

Mindpath Health this week continued its wave of multistate expansion, moving into Ohio with the acquisition of 4 outpatient treatment offices from Vertava Health. The transaction follows Mindpath’s recent deal to acquire Metropolitan Neuro Behavioral Institute in Arizona.

The 4 Vertava facilities serve the greater Cleveland and Columbus areas, providing psychiatric and psychological services, medication management, therapy, and addiction recovery. Vertava will continue to operate its inpatient service in Ohio.

MindPath Health, the recently formed joint venture between MindPath Care Centers and Community Psychiatry, now operates a network of more than 80 offices across 7 states with more than 500 clinicians. The 4 Ohio facilities add 14 providers to the Mindpath Health portfolio of clinics.

Acadia, Orlando Health Announce Partnership

Acadia Healthcare and Orlando Health have announced a joint venture to expand the central Florida health system’s inpatient and outpatient programs, enhance community outreach, and develop new comprehensive psychiatric strategies across the Orlando Health system.

As part of the partnership, Acadia will assume management responsibilities for the behavioral health program at Orlando Health South Seminole Hospital. The deal is the 14th partnership for Acadia, which operates 230 behavioral healthcare facilities across 40 states and Puerto Rico, and it represents the company’s entry into the Orlando area.

Acadia CEO Debbie Osteen said in a news release that the organization will continue to seek partnerships with health systems across the US.

Pear Therapeutics Completes Combination With Thimble, Commences Trading on NASDAQ

Pear Therapeutics, the prescription digital therapeutics company, has completed its business combination with Thimble Point Acquisition Corp., and the publicly traded company commenced trading on the NASDAQ under the symbol “PEAR” as of Monday. The transaction generated an estimated $175 million in gross proceeds.

Pear President and CEO Corey McCann, MD, said in a news release that the company aims to increase access to PDTs by further commercializing its 3 FDA-authorized digital therapeutics (the third of which recently received Breakthrough Device Designation by the US Food and Drug Administration), expanding public and private payer adoption, and advancing its product pipeline.

Voyages Adding Its Second Behavioral Health Program in Texas

Voyages Behavioral Health has announced the development of Voyages Behavioral Health of Clear Lake, the company’s second location in Texas. The program, located in the Houston area, will offer services for adults, older adults, and specialty programs for trauma and military service members.  

Voyages Behavioral Health is an affiliate of PAM Health, an Enola, Pennsylvania-based provider of healthcare services with 67 facilities in 17 states, including acute care hospitals and inpatient medical rehabilitation hospitals, along with 18 locations that also provide outpatient therapy.

Netsmart Acquires AI Technology Firm Remarkable Health

Netsmart, a provider of EHR, health information exchanges, analytics, and telehealth solutions, announced that it has acquired Remarkable Health, an artificial intelligence technology and software solutions firm that serves behavioral health, substance use, and human services organizations. Together, the organizations plan to expand Netsmart’s CareFabric platform to improve human services and post-acute care clinical staff productivity and efficiency.

Remarkable Health brings its CT|One EHR and Bells, a virtual clinical documentation solution for behavioral health and human services organizations that integrates with existing EHR platforms.
