Fulcrum Equity Partners Acquires Defining Wellness Centers

Defining Wellness Centers, a Mississippi drug and alcohol addiction treatment facility, was recently acquired by Fulcrum Equity Partners, an Atlanta, Georgia-based private equity firm. As part of the transaction, Fulcrum turned to a familiar face to lead its new acquisition, appointing industry veteran Drew Rothermel as Defining Wellness Centers’ new CEO.

Rothermel’s executive experience includes serving as president and CEO of Origins Behavioral HealthCare for nearly 4 years and as chief operating officer for Caron Treatment Centers for more than 9 years.

The appointment of Rothermel as CEO of a newly acquired treatment organization is a familiar path for Fulcrum. In 2018, the private equity group tapped Rothermel to serve as chief executive of Liberation Behavioral Health as it acquired a majority interest in the company.

With its financial backing from Fulcrum, Defining Wellness Centers will pursue an expansion “in the Mississippi market and beyond,” according to a Fulcrum news release.

On Tuesday, Defining Wellness Centers announced another executive move, appointing Heather Kent as the organization’s executive director. Kent previously served as director at St. Dominic’s Hospital in Jackson, Mississippi.

Nystrom & Associates Adds 2 Clinics in Wisconsin

Nystrom & Associates, a group of therapy and psychiatric service providers, has opened 2 new clinics in Green Bay and Oshkosh, Wisconsin. The clinics will offer individual outpatient therapy, couples and family therapy, and psychiatric services. Nystrom also offers Wisconsin residents telehealth-based services.

With the opening of its new locations, Nystrom & Associates now operates 10 programs across Wisconsin.

Indiana Center for Recovery Completes Facility Acquisition

Indiana Center for Recovery (ICFR), a provider of addiction treatment and mental health services, has completed its acquisition of the former St. Vincent Hospital in Bedford, Indiana. The 184,000-square-foot facility is the second hospital acquisition by ICFR in as many years.

The repurposed facility, scheduled to open in spring 2024, will provide detox, residential, inpatient, and outpatient services for substance use disorder. The program will also have an inpatient psychiatric care unit and offer residential inpatient care for mental health.

The Bedford location will be ICFR’s ninth in Indiana.

Caron Opens Outpatient Program in Pennsylvania

Caron Treatment Centers recently opened its new Philadelphia Outpatient Treatment Center. Located in Plymouth Meeting, Pennsylvania, the new facility will offer trauma-focused therapy and services for individuals, couples, and families.

Services and modalities at the new center include the following: EMDR, internal family systems, sensorimotor, cognitive behavior therapy, experiential and expressive arts.
