BrightView Health Acquires Column Health

BrightView Health, an outpatient addiction treatment provider with 64 locations across 5 states, announced that it has acquired Column Health, which offers mental health and substance use disorder treatment to more than 2200 patients at 12 facilities in 2 states.

Services at Column programs will continue uninterrupted as staff transitions to the BrightView brand.

The 2 organizations deliver addiction treatment through similar care models, using data, analysis, and technology platforms to improve patient engagement and outcomes. Both programs generally incorporate medication-assisted treatment, 1-on-1 counseling, and group therapy.

“Column Health has been successful through its commitment to providing effective addiction treatment that leverages modern technology,” BrightView Co-Founder and CEO Chad Smith said in a news release. “We are excited to build on their legacy, and we are committed to a smooth transition for each patient, staff member, and community partner.”

AspenRidge Recovery Relocates to New Location

A year after a car crash damaged its facility and forced patients and staff to be displaced, AspenRidge Recovery, a provider of mental health, trauma, and addiction treatment services, has opened its new location in Lakewood, Colorado.

In July 2021, an intoxicated driver crashed a vehicle into AspenRidge’s previous location. Part of the building was destroyed, forcing staff and patients to be moved to the company’s administrative offices.

“We're grateful no one was injured in the incident,” AspenRidge CEO Shannon Van Deman said in a news release. “Our team improvised, and the people in our care moved into our administrative offices within hours. It took a year to build out the new space, and we are thrilled to open our new center.”

AspenRidge is a dual-diagnosis treatment center that specializes in treating addiction, mental health disorders, and complex trauma in adults. Its sister organization, Alpine Recovery Center, provides treatment for Medicaid recipients.

Brave Health, MedArrive Collaborate to Expand Virtual Care Access for Medicaid Populations

Brave Health, a virtual-first behavioral health provider that serves Medicaid populations, announced that it has entered into a referral partnership with MedArrive, a mobile-integrated care management platform company.

Through the collaboration, MedArrive will refer eligible plan members in need of mental health support to Brave Health’s providers and schedule care within days. Meanwhile, if Brave Health identifies eligible health plan members who may benefit from MedArrive’s home health services, then Brave Health will work with the plan’s case management team to align support.

The partnership to expand access to mental healthcare services as the percentage of psychiatrists who accept Medicaid has fallen to 35%, according to a study published in JAMA Psychiatry, leaving many Medicaid beneficiaries with few options for treatment.

Therapy Brands Appoints New CEO

Therapy Brands, an information technology partner for mental, behavioral, and rehabilitative therapy organizations, announced this week that its board of directors has appointed veteran software industry executive Jeffrey Shoreman as its new CEO.

Shoreman previously served as CEO of Magnitude Software, which he guided through an acquisition by Insight Software in 2021. Shoreman has also served in executive roles with the financial services software firm Eze Software.
