Business Briefs: BayMark, Discovery, Heritage CARES, Ellie Mental Health

BayMark Health Services has acquired 3 residential and outpatient mental health and substance use disorder (SUD) treatment programs in the Phoenix and Denver greater metropolitan areas. The addition of Pathfinders Recovery Center, which operates programs in Scottsdale, Arizona, and Aurora, Colorado, and Emerald Isle Health and Recovery in Surprise, Arizona, expands the BayMark portfolio to 13 residential programs in 7 states.

Both Pathfinders and Emerald Isle offer residential detox, inpatient care, dual diagnosis programs, partial hospitalization programs, intensive outpatient programs, and transitional housing for SUD and mental health disorders. The additions will complement BayMark’s existing opioid treatment programs in the Denver and Phoenix areas, which offer medication-assisted treatment, counseling, outpatient detox, and case management and aftercare support.

The mergers and acquisitions firm the Braff Group represented Pathfinders and Emerald Isle in the transaction.

Discovery Behavioral Health Acquires TMS Provider

Discovery Behavioral Health, which operates a network of mental health, substance use, and eating disorder treatment centers, announced on Tuesday that it has acquired Dan Med TMS Neuro Institute, a provider of transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS) therapy for depression. Founded in 2019, Dan Med operates 3 centers in the Seattle-Tacoma metro area in Washington state.

The deal expands Discovery Behavioral Health’s portfolio of TMS therapy-providing locations. Overall, the company operates 130 treatment centers, and is a contracted provider for 100 payer and other managed care organizations.

Heritage CARES Partners with Video Platform YouTurn

Heritage CARES, a virtual behavioral health, substance misuse, and suicide prevention company, announced that it has merged with YouTurn, a platform for therapist-led video content for stress, behavioral health, and substance misuse. The deal will provide Heritage CARES clients with access to the YouTurn on-demand video library.

Based in Greenville, South Carolina, YouTurn produces videos that educate and support individuals and families struggling with behavioral health challenges, substance misuse, and suicide ideation. Heritage CARES, which is based in Dallas, connects individuals with peer coaches who are certified in Assertive Community Engagement and have experienced similar challenges, as well as on-demand video support.

Ellie Mental Health Announces Expansion

Ellie Mental Health, a Minnesota-based company that operates a network of mental health agencies, announced it has sold 125 franchise clinics since signing its first franchisee in the fall of 2021, with 100 locations selling in the past 100 days.

Ellie currently operates 16 clinics in Minnesota, and its first franchise location is slated to open in Noblesville, Indiana, in July, with additional programs in Denver, Dallas, Chicago, Atlanta, and Baltimore to follow. The company said in a release it aims to have 40 franchise locations operating in more than 10 states by the end of 2022, with an additional 300 units awarded.

Ellie Mental Health offers mental health therapy for individuals and families, couples counseling, psychiatric medication management, and community-based mental health services.
