ECU Health, Acadia Break Ground on Behavioral Health Hospital
ECU Health and Acadia Healthcare have begun construction on a 144-bed behavioral health hospital in Greenville, North Carolina. The 2 organizations will own and operate the new hospital together.
Scheduled to open in the spring of 2025 and located less than a mile from ECU Health Medical Center, the hospital will offer comprehensive inpatient and intensive outpatient treatment for adults, seniors, children, and adolescents who struggle with acute symptoms of mental health conditions, as well as treatment for co-occurring disorders. The hospital will have 24 inpatient beds for children and adolescents with behavioral health needs.
The facility will also serve as a teaching hospital for psychiatry, social work, nursing, and other behavioral health professionals, training students and residents from the Brody School of Medicine at East Carolina University.
Spectrum Awarded New Contract With Sheriff’s Office, Licensure
Spectrum Health Systems, a not-for-profit provider of addiction treatment services in Massachusetts and other programming for justice-involved individuals throughout the country, announced on Tuesday that it has been awarded a contract by the Middlesex Sheriff’s Office, based in Woburn, Massachusetts, to serve individuals at risk for recidivism.
The deal expands Spectrum’s longstanding deal with the Massachusetts Department of Correction and county corrections by adding services at the Middlesex Jail & House of Correction in Billerica. The contract includes a 60-bed re-entry unit, violence intervention and prevention programming for male inmates, cognitive behavioral treatment groups for general population inmates, and transitional re-entry programming for female inmates.
Spectrum also recently obtained licensure from the state’s Bureau of Addiction Services to store and dispense medication for opioid use disorder to justice-involved individuals at the Middlesex Jail & House of Correction. Spectrum previously had transported medication from its nearby outpatient treatment center to support individuals in the Middlesex Sheriff’s Office medication-assisted treatment program.
Comprehensive Rehab Consultants Receives Private Equity Investment
York Capital Management’s private equity group announced on Thursday that it has made a strategic growth investment in Comprehensive Rehab Consultants (CRC), a physiatry, psychiatry, and care transition group. CRC co-founders Omar Osman, MD, and Rehan Azhar will remain owners of the organization and lead the company.
Founded in 2020, CRC provides physiatry (the medical specialty of physical medicine and rehabilitation), chronic care management, and behavioral health services to skilled nursing facilities. The company has more than 250 clinicians servicing facilities in 32 states. The investment made by York Private Equity will support CRC’s organic and merger and acquisition-driven growth initiatives.
Findhelp Partners With Delaware to Build Search and Referral Platform
Findhelp, a software firm that connects individuals in need of social care services with providers through a closed-loop referral system, announced on Thursday that it has been awarded a contract with the Delaware Department of Health and Social Services, Division of Substance Abuse and Mental Health (DSAMH) to help the state’s residents find substance use disorder and mental health services.
Findhelp will collaborate with DSAMH and Bamboo Health, a real-time healthcare intelligence firm, to provide end-to-end search and referral software to the 30,000 Delaware residents who engage with DSAMH. Findhelp will integrate with the state’s new system, known as DTRN360, which will be designed, developed, and deployed by Bamboo Health over the next 6 months.
