Springstone names new CEO

Kentucky-based Springstone has named Robert Maha, MD, as its new chief executive officer. Founder W. Earl Reed will remain with the organization as chairman of the board.

Established in 2010, Springstone currently operates 10 hospitals in Indiana, Kansas, Ohio and Texas and has locations in development in seven additional markets. Clinical offerings include mental health and substance use disorder treatment that incorporates nutritional counseling and other holistic programming.

Most recently, Maha served as the chief operating officer and chief medical officer for an urgent care provider and previously held leadership roles with the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center.

“I look forward to the opportunity to continue Springstone's impressive track record of de novo development and quality operations,” said Maha in a statement. “There is a critical need for more behavioral services in this country, and Springstone hospitals fill a significant void.”

Notably, Springstone outlines an ethics code on its website, created by Reed, and the organization employs a compliance officer.
