Seven Counties Services names new president & CEO

Louisville, Ky. — Seven Counties Services, a Kentucky-based regional behavioral health and developmental services center, has annouced the selection of Dr. Anthony M. (Tony) Zipple, ScD, MBA, as president and CEO, effective May 9, 2011.

Zipple will become the second President and CEO of Seven Counties Services, following in the traditions of quality, excellence and compassion that have guided the organization’s efforts for the past 32 years under Dr. Howard F. Bracco’s leadership. Dr. Bracco is retiring from the position he has held since August 1, 1978, the date of Seven Counties’ inception.

Seven Counties Services is the Louisville region’s largest provider of mental health, developmental disabilities and addictions services, with over 32,000 individuals receiving help last year. The company’s 1,400 employees and 400 volunteers provide services at 20 service locations and 90 schools throughout the region.

Zipple currently serves as CEO for Thresholds, a Chicago-based organization providing an array of services to more than 6,000 individuals with mental illnesses. Dr. Zipple began his long career in the field as a live-in staff person in a home serving persons with developmental disabilities. He has worked in the community mental health field for more than 30 years as a clinical manager, public administrator, consultant, teacher, researcher and executive. He holds a Doctor of Science in Rehabilitation Counseling from Boston University, an MBA from the University of New Hampshire, a CAGS from the University of Cincinnati, and MS and BA degrees from the University of Notre Dame. According to Stephen M. Moss, chair of the Board of Directors, an extensive nationwide search was conducted to find the group’s next leader. The regional and national reputation of Seven Counties attracted many highly qualified candidates.
“Ultimately, we selected the person who we feel is best equipped to help Seven Counties grow in its mission of building healthy communities," Moss said. "We are confident that Dr. Zipple’s contribution to that mission will be significant and long-lasting.”

“Seven Counties is an extraordinary organization with a stellar reputation. Louisville is lucky to have Seven Counties and I am fortunate to have this tremendous opportunity to come to the region and lead such an organization,” says Dr. Zipple. “I am eager to begin my Seven Counties’ journey of listening, learning and leading.”
