Qualifacts to honor leading advocate with Mental Health First Aid donation

Qualifacts Systems, Inc. launched today a campaign to recognize those who have done great work for their communities in the behavioral health field. In honor of National Mental Health Awareness Month, Qualifacts is accepting nominations of exceptional “Mental Health Advocates” who:

  • Demonstrate a passion for the mental health cause,
  • Promote awareness of mental health through their work and/or everyday lives, or
  • Have personally impacted the mental health of loved ones.

“National Mental Health Awareness Month is an ideal time to thank our customers and all mental health advocates and service providers for their dedication to promoting awareness and for caring for our communities,” said David Klements, president and CEO of Qualifacts. “The prevalence of behavioral health and addiction disorders makes this an issue that touches us all.”

Klements concludes, “This campaign is our way of ensuring the important role mental health professionals play in caring for their clients and our communities is recognized. We admire and respect their commitment, and we appreciate their service.”

Everyone is invited to visit the Qualifacts Facebook page to submit a short paragraph, photo or video in support of their Mental Health Advocate nominee. At the end of the month, Qualifacts will make a $2,500 donation to Mental Health First Aid on behalf of the nominee with the most “likes.” The company will additionally make a donation to their organization’s foundation.

Mental Health First Aid – managed in part by the National Council for Community Behavioral Healthcare – is a groundbreaking public education program that helps the public identify, understand, and respond to signs of mental illnesses and substance use disorders.

“Too many people in an emotional crisis or with a mental illness suffer alone,” says Linda Rosenberg, MSW, president and CEO for the National Council for Community Behavioral Healthcare. “Mental Health First Aid is a simple, relatively inexpensive way to teach all Americans about mental illnesses, the effectiveness of treatment and the ability we have to help each other. Qualifacts’ donation will help us further this important mission.”

About National Mental Health Awareness Month

Mental Health Awareness Month was started by the National Mental Health Association in 1949, and they aim to increase awareness of mental health through two different themes. Their Do More for 1 in 4 campaign promotes to the one in four Americans who live with a diagnosable and treatable mental health condition that they can achieve recovery. The Healing Trauma's Invisible Wounds emphasizes the impact of traumatic events on individuals and families.
