FACT FILE: Opioid overdose deaths rise in 2015

Data released by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) indicates opioid overdose-related deaths continued to climb in 2015.

Opioid overdose deaths were up 16% in 2015 compared to the previous year, with spikes in deaths involving heroin and synthetic opioids, such as fentanyl, largely accounting for the overall increase.
