01/15/2019
A pair of not-for-profits that each have been combatting addiction for more than 25 years are teaming up in hopes of accelerating their progress in transforming how the nation addresses the disease.
Center on Addiction and Partnership for Drug-Free Kids announced that they have merged under the name Center on Addiction. Partnership for Drug-Free Kids president and CEO Fred Muench joins the Center as president. Longtime board member James G. Niven will serve as board chair, and Mike White, chair of the board of directors for the Partnership, will serve as vice chair of the newly combined organization.
Combining research, policy, family resources and services, and communications expertise, the Center on Addiction will address various aspects of addiction from prevention to recovery, including family support, advocating for effective care, and helping to shape public policies on prevention and treatment.
“Our complementary expertise will allow us to confront this disease from multiple angles to ensure that all young people can achieve their full potential and families get the support they need,” Creighton Drury, who is assuming the role of CEO at Center on Addiction, said in a news release.
