Pamela Peeke examines the link between addiction and nutrition

Pamela Peeke, physician, scientist and author in the fields of nutrition and public health, will be the plenary speaker at the 2015 National Conference on Addiction Disorders and Behavioral Healthcare Executive Summit, August 1 to 4 in St. Louis.

Founder of The Peeke Performance Center for Healthy Living, Peeke will present “Off the Drugs…Onto the Cupcakes: The New Science of Food Addiction” at this year’s event. Research demonstrates that transfer from drugs and alcohol to processed, sugary and fatty food products occurs commonly in treatment and recovery—often exacerbating relapse. Peeke will discuss the science and management of culinary cross addiction and present practical nutrition and lifestyle tools to enhance overall recovery outcomes.

On stage or in front of a camera, she combines energy, wit and humor with the latest scientific data to educate audiences about healthy living.  Additionally, Peeke is WebMD's lifestyle expert and chief medical correspondent for nutrition and fitness at Discovery Health TV. She hosts the series Could You Survive?, based upon her national bestselling book Fit to Live
